For our newest project we were asked to identify a company we would like to work with and investigate potential competitors or companies. For this project, I created a program called Kiddie-Pool; a carpooling system promising a safe journey home for students involved within the school and community. The company’s three main objectives for its users are safety, time, and energy. The company saves time and strain for the parents, provides a safe travel home for children, and creates a sustainable environment for the community.
These objectives appeal to children, their parents, and the surrounding community. Parents experience more leisure time and students have a reliable means of transportation from their activity to home. Lastly, the surrounding community benefits greatly from its sustainable transportation. By car-pooling, it minimizes fuel consumption and emissions of carbon dioxide and pollutants; not to mention it saves money for the parents!
Because Kiddie-Pool is a newly developed company, there are a minute amount of competitors for this organization. A common means of moving children from place to place is the school bus, often running only directly after school hours expire. Also, adults remain a great competitor for Kiddie-Pool. Many supportive parents make time in their daily lives to transport their children after their activities. Although there are a few competitors for Kiddie-Pool, it remains a one-of-a-kind company that provides transportation to active children, their parents, and the community. Common collaborators are youth and school-based programs involving teachers, parents, and community businesses who encourage the involvement of students.

Back to Basics Article
During the process of re-designing the Family Vision logo, I have researched many aspects of the design as well as the company's intended identity. Through research, my ability to choose a specified audience became easier. My target audience can be described as parents seeking a safe, caring environment with trustworthy optometrists for their family's eye care. I created a logo that portrays Family Vision as a company with a comfortable atmosphere for families who want to be healthy!
After viewing the client's website and their logo, I decided what I wanted to convey about the company. On Family Vision's website it states, "If you're looking for quality care with a person touch, we hope you'll give us a call". This statement stuck with me throughout the process of re-designing and I wanted to create something family-oriented, soft, and homelike. I took into consideration the colors on the website, and incorporated the light greens and yellows into the newly designed logo. I believe these colors represent balance, harmony, and stability, which in turn will allow the customers to be at ease while at this clinic.
The client's mission is to provide quality care to families while creating trustworthy relationships with their staff and customers. The new logo promises an experience of relaxation and ease for the customers holding busy, hectic lives. Overall, I am confident that the new logo holds true to the company's promise. It is simple and clean while promising a safe, caring environment for their customer's eye care.

1st Assignment (continued)
After critiquing our poorly designed logos, I have decided to take on the challenge of re-designing the Family Vision logo. Sooooo with further research, I discovered the company's website...check it out for yourself @ http://www.familyvisionnewrichmond.com/. TERRIBLE. Not only does the logo suck, but the website is designed completely different than the logo. AHHHHH! However, the website did give me some good insight on what the company is all about. It states, Family Vision consists of "quality care with a personal touch". Alright, soon to be posted will be a few computer sketches/ideas for the new logo! :-)
Also! Here's some inspiration that came to mind while looking up ideas for my logo.

Some Baaaaad Logos
Okay! So all of these are pretty terrible! Bad logos are apparently not too hard to find! I'm pretty sure that a lot of people are going to stumble upon the majority I have posted, BUT they are pretty funny.
I was driving around yesterday, and saw "hobbit travel"...which I thought was a ridiculous name for a traveling agency to start with. I found their logo to be quite disgusting. haha. I think the real question here is, do hobbits travel faster than humans?
