Standards Manual Rough Draft

Okay...understand that this is VERY ROUGH. I'm currently working on it a lot more because I am finished with my Business Application (which will be posted shortly).

Revised Business System

Hooray! I made a lot of changes to my business system. I got rid of the collage looking stuff and decided to keep it clean and simple. Hopefully you like it!

System Applications

My ideas for my system application are as follows:

-Mock website explaining what the company is, sign up opportunities, tracking your kids/map, etc.

-Kiddypool Membership kit including 2 t-shirts (one for parent, one for kid), a Kiddy-Approved bumper sticker, and a key chain.

-Magnet for Kiddy-Approved vehicles, volunteers would put these on their car so kids would be aware of what vehicle to get into.

If anyone has any ideas on what the membership kit packaging would be that would be great. I'd like to get a little creative with that one and thats the application I am currently leaning towards.

Final Business System

Hey Everyone-

So I'm all done with my business system...for now. Overall, I'm fairly pleased with how everything turned out. I had a lot of issues with printing and had to revise and revise so it would print out correctly/how I wanted it to look on paper. I know there were a lot of contemplation about how/if my frog/car illustrations and leaf/collage background meshed well together, but I ended up liking the aesthetic of the collage for a couple reasons. To me a collage represents scrapbooking, which could be a very good relationship for parents viewing my mailer. They could relate it to a very friendly and recognizable hobby as well as realizing its a company built with trust. Also, the bright colors are very energetic, which worked well with my characters. I'm anxious to hear what people have to say during critique. Well, that's all for now...take a look and see ya tomorrow morning!

Need more comments! Made some changes!

Hey everyone- I took your comments into consideration (as well as Angie's) and made some changes. If you have any suggestions on what I could do to improve this it would help a ton. Thanks! I decided to stick with a more fun approach vs. super professional.

NEED COMMENTS!

Okay! So I've decided to stick with a mailer for my business system. The top image would essentially be the front of the mailer, and then the other side would be the back. It would be held together with a sticker, and then on the inside it would have sign up information, as well as what the company is, what it does, what its main goal is, etc. If you have ANY COMMENTS please give me them. I have no idea what to do and am pressed for time (as we all are!)

letterhead/business card/envelope roughs

Okay! Soooo here are my roughs! I was originally thinking of doing a mailer and some other things to incorporate in place of a traditional letterhead/business card/envelope, but I changed muh mind! I decided that since the parents are the ones recieving the letters it should look professional. And what more professional than a letterhead? I haven't completely ignored the idea of the mailer, but I figured that could be incorporated somehow into information that will be recieved after you sign up for the Kiddy Pool program.

Sooooo after printing the car roughs, and mocking them up, I have already found some changes I need to make! On the business card, I've realized that less is more. I need to make the car smaller, or wayyy more transparent so the car isn't distracting from the logo. Also, on the envelope there are definitely some issues when it is put together. I couldn't wrap my head around how this all worked! If you have any comments or ideas on what to do on any of these let me knowwwww!

I'm liking my frog mock-ups a little bit more, but these won't be used until parents are familiar with the program. Maybe that's something to consider when making the mailers and such. Just an idea that came across. If you have any comments or ideas they are greatly appreciated!

Oh! and just a heads up! All of these are printed on a textured cream paper...so it definitely has a different aesthetic appeal when they're mocked up versus on a digital file! Just putting that out thurr.

Business Systems

I found so many business systems that are relevant to what I want to do with my letterhead and business card designs.

The first one I found was for a company called, "Kids on the Move Shuttle Service". This company's service is not only similar to Kiddy Pool, but its letterhead is friendly and filled with energy. The aesthetics of this letterhead is not exactly what I want to do, but the physical feeling you get from looking at it is something I would like to incorporate into my design. I want it to have a high energy, and have it be colorful, yet professional.

The second business system I found was the Pomegranate Center. This company has absolutely nothing to do with mine, but the aesthetic is very calming. The majority of my letters are going to be sent out to parents so they can sign their children up for this service therefore a calming and professional look to my letterhead, business cards, etc. would be a good aesthetic to incorporate into my design. Also, I loved the paper used for this! Because carpooling is an eco-friendly act, I would like to use a cream-colored/sustainable looking paper (like paper bags).

Another business system I found was for a company named "Value Holidays". Similar to that of the Pomegranate Center's, Value Holiday's design also has a cream-colored paper. I love this aesthetic! It's so great! Also, I enjoy the blown up picture in the background. I thought that this could be integrated into my design by blowing up my car or frog illustration. I think this could possibly work really well if I did it effectively!

That's all for now! :-)

Final Logos

Okay, here are my resolved logos as of now. I'm still planning on tweaking a few more things, but for the most part they are done! I took all of the constructive criticism into consideration while redesigning and came up with these. I trashed the flower idea...it just wasn't working, I reworked the illustrations, and I think they look pretty good.

2 Refined Digital Roughs-Kiddy Pool

Here are some refined digital roughs for Kiddy Pool. There was a lot of great criticism that I took into consideration when doing yet another round of revisions. Some things mentioned were that the illustrations of the car and frog were not entirely integrated when used with the Kiddy Pool word mark. In the car logo, the flowers did not come off as exhaust from the car, but rather a lingering element that wasn't working with the logo. Also, the placement of the car was unresolved. For the frog logo, the line representing hops/leaps of the frog was not meshing well with the type in the logo. It wasn't integrating with the typeface and seemed like a static element. Also, the placement of the frog seemed off when compared to the car in the other logo. Everyone was fairly pleased with the word mark, but there were issues with the flower. What does it mean? Why is it there? Do you need it there?

Just a few things to think about before revising again...

5 Logo Roughs

I expanded on my word marks and decided to add characters to the identity of my company called Kiddy Pool. I incorporated a car as well as a frog to reinforce the friendly, care-free atmosphere of the company. I also added a tag line that reads, "play safe. ride smart."

50 Word Mark Roughs

Here are some very old word mark roughs for Kiddy Pool that I failed to post! :-)

Company Logo Design-Assignment 2

For our newest project we were asked to identify a company we would like to work with and investigate potential competitors or companies. For this project, I created a program called Kiddie-Pool; a carpooling system promising a safe journey home for students involved within the school and community. The company’s three main objectives for its users are safety, time, and energy. The company saves time and strain for the parents, provides a safe travel home for children, and creates a sustainable environment for the community.

These objectives appeal to children, their parents, and the surrounding community. Parents experience more leisure time and students have a reliable means of transportation from their activity to home. Lastly, the surrounding community benefits greatly from its sustainable transportation. By car-pooling, it minimizes fuel consumption and emissions of carbon dioxide and pollutants; not to mention it saves money for the parents!

Because Kiddie-Pool is a newly developed company, there are a minute amount of competitors for this organization. A common means of moving children from place to place is the school bus, often running only directly after school hours expire. Also, adults remain a great competitor for Kiddie-Pool. Many supportive parents make time in their daily lives to transport their children after their activities. Although there are a few competitors for Kiddie-Pool, it remains a one-of-a-kind company that provides transportation to active children, their parents, and the community. Common collaborators are youth and school-based programs involving teachers, parents, and community businesses who encourage the involvement of students.
